Recently, students at W.B. Saul toured Villanova University. This trip allowed students to gain first hand valuable knowledge into college life and campus culture.
For Junior Shawn Westerfer, the entire experience was eye opening. The trip allowed him to see and experience the transition from high school to college. Shawn was drawn to the trip by curiosity about Villanova’s offerings.
“It was nice. I liked the atmosphere, and it wasn’t overwhelming,” Westerfer said. “The pathways and trimmed grass made it feel welcoming.”
His first reaction to the campus highlights the campus’s serene and inviting environment. Before the initial visit, Shawn wanted to see what programs Villanova offered.
“I was curious about what they offered,” Westerfer explained. “Our host answered our questions, and they addressed more on stage, so my expectations were met.”
The informational sessions and interactions with students provided clarity about college life. What stood out most to Shawn was the sense of community.
“It made it a lot less scary than it seems because it was very homey and calming,” he said.
From friendly waves from students in dorm windows to the warm welcome from staff, the trip showcased Villanova’s inclusive atmosphere. While no single moment defined the experience, Shawn left feeling reassured about his future.
“It made me feel like college isn’t as scary as it seems,” he reflected. “The college was very homey, with many places to go and welcoming students and staff.”
For Shawn and his peers, the trip was more than a campus tour, it allowed the students to experience what college life was all about.
